Hi! I’m Cat, the creator, maker, and author behind Espresso Fibers!

Let me tell you about me and the foundation of Espresso Fibers. I have had a deep love (addiction) for coffee since I was fourteen years old, I drink minimum one cup of coffee a day. By day I am a barista at a local coffee shop, I work all day making coffee, building the best suited beverage for each of my customers. Over time I have fallen in love with the aesthetic of coffee, and the typical coffee shop vibe. The smell of coffee, the muted calm dark earth tones that go with coffee. The feeling that people are either working hard or being super creative in my coffee shop, using the coffee they love as fuel to do amazing things. I love coffee. I love the message coffee sends. I love that I reach for coffee when I need a pick me up. I love everything to do with it.

Now, the yarny side of this individual starts out early in life. I picked up my first crochet hook when I was eight years old and was immediately fascinated. It lasted all of a few months, before I (as every kid does) dropped that interest for something else. I rediscovered crochet when I was in my sophomore year of high school. I reached for it as a way to help redirect my extra energy, creativity, and for emotional balance. Since then, I have touched yarn every single day after that. I got so excited about crochet, I realized I could try to teach myself to knit, with the help of trusty Youtube. So I did just that, I have taught myself how to knit, spin yarn, embroider, sew, cross stitch. I love to learn and attempt anything fiber art related.

I started making beautiful things, getting better and better over time as one does. Come this past year, I have had a lot of desire to share my work. Inspired by watching all the beautiful indie dyers and small handmade businesses make their mark, and brand themselves and their work, I really wanted to put my artistry out into the world and give it a try.

When I make things, I use my color schemes, I use what brings me joy and comfort. My love for coffee brings me lots of inspiration when I am making, and honestly nine out of ten times, when I have yarn in hand there is a coffee for me not too far away. I couldn’t think of anything that said ‘Me’ more then launching a brand for my makes, having to do with coffee and yarn. Hence, Espresso Fibers was born.
