Coaster Cup Cozy Pattern
Written by Cat Marinos. Property of Espresso Fibers.
I love coffee. I get an iced latte everyday (pretty much).
A frequent problem I and everyone else in the world face, is the mess the condensation creates after letting that cup sit for over ten minutes. And while there is a plethora of products out there to fix that, handmade is always better. So here is my little solution!
Please join me in decorating your iced beverages with this little condensation catcher.
Let’s get started.
For this pattern you will need:
-Category 4 worsted weight yarn
EX: Caron Simply Soft, Red Heart Super Saver, -Lionbrand Vanna’s Choice
-Size I/9 5.5 mm crochet hook
-Darning needle
Key:
Sl - slip Sc - single crochet
St - stitch Dc - double crochet
Start with a magic ring
R1: Chain 1 and sc 8 into the ring, sl st into first sc.
R2: Chain 1, sc 2 in each st around sl st into first sc.
R3: Chain 1, *sc 2 in one st, sc 1* repeat * around, sl st
into first sc.
R4: Chain 1, *sc 2 in one st, sc 2* repeat * around, sl st
into first sc.
R5: Chain 1, sc in the back loop all the way around, sl st
into first sc.
R6: Chain 1, sc around for two rows.
R7: Chain 2, skip first st, dc into next st, *chain 1 sk st,
dc* repeat * around, sl st into top of first dc.
R8: Chain 3 skip st, *dc into chain space, chain 1 skip st*
repeat * around, sl st into second chain in
beginning chain 3.
R9: Chain 2, *dc into chain space, chain 1 sk st* repeat *
around, dc into last chain space, sl st into the first
dc.
R10: Chain 1, sc in each st around.
Break yarn, and weave in ends.
Notes:
I recommend using acrylic yarn for this pattern. It is the easiest to manage around food items, machine washable and resistant to stretching.
I hope you enjoyed this lil freebie! There is a printable PDF version available for purchase on the site, and this product is also for sale in the preorder section of the site. :)
